The period action drama directed by Siruthai Siva features Bobby Deol as the antagonist and Disha Patani as the lead actress. As the release date approaches, every day new revelations unfold. Rajinikanth jokes Kanguva was first conceived for him and not Suriya
Rajinikanth, who is recovering from his recent surgery participated in the Kanguva audio launch and also spilled some beans about the project. The actor joined the event through a video message and mentioned that he had encouraged director Siva to create a period drama for him. Although he believes Siva might have developed the script following his suggestion, various circumstances may have resulted in Suriya being cast in the role. Rajinikanth expressed that he has no issues with this outcome.
“While working with Siva on Annaatthey, I asked him to come up with a historical subject for me, and I think he came up with Kanguva. However, it should have gone through some change and must have gone to Suriya. But that’s alright. I hope he will come up with something else for me,” Rajinikanth stated during the Kanguva music launch.

Nevertheless, to honour his dear friend, he sent a video message wishing Suriya well. “Shivakumar is a gentleman, and a lion’s kid can’t be a cat. So, Suriya is also like his father. I wish the film to become a huge success,” he stated.
Kanguva also marked Suriya’s return to film after a three-year hiatus, featuring a Pan India collaboration.
