Leo, Vikram director Lokesh Kanagaraj to make short film introducing the Lokesh Cinematic Universe

Director Lokesh Kanagaraj, who is basking in the commercial success of Leo, will soon be commencing work on a short film introducing the LCU to the audiences.

Lokesh Kanagaraj, six films old as a director, has made quite the mark, not just on Tamil cinema, but on the larger landscape of Indian cinema. A standout recent development about his films, has been the emerging Lokesh Cinematic Universe, currently in its intial stages. Prior to the release of Leo, the Lokesh Cinematic Universe had drawn a lot of conjecture concerning the fact if Leo would be a part of the LCU or not. Lokesh Kanagaraj has reportedly come up with a plan to dissipate future possibilities of conjecture.

 

A Lokesh Cinematic Universe short film is in the works

The Lokesh Cinematic Universe currently, affirmatively, is made up of three film. The first in this regard was 2019 release Kaithi with Karthi in the lead. This was followed by the Kamal Haasan led Vikram which released in 2022. The latest addition to the cinematic universe has been Kanagaraj's 2023 release, Leo, which starred Thalapathy Vijay in the lead.


As per a recent 123Telugu report, actor Narain, who essayed the role of Inspector Bejoy in both Kaithi and Vikram, a short film, depicting the origins of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe, is currently in the works. Lokesh and Narain will be collaborating on this short film, reportedly spanning ten minutes, which will effectively establish the originating point of the Lokesh Cinematic Universe. Narain has reportedly also confirmed how the short film will be released ahead of the completion of Kaithi 2. Separately, Lokesh Kanagaraj's next project is Thalaivar 171, with Rajinikanth in the lead.

Lokesh Kanagaraj's last release was Leo

Lokesh Kanagaraj recently saw through the release of his big banner project, Leo. It had Thalapathy Vijay in the lead with the film also featuring Sanjay Dutt and Trisha Krishnan.

Despite a lukewarm reaction from critics, the film managed to rake in big numbers at the box office, with its worldwide collections clocking in at ₹605.25 crores.
