Nayanthara doesn't want to be called 'Lady Superstar’ - here's why
Nayanthara starrer Kolamavu Kokila was one of the first few films led by a female actor to have 6 AM shows at the time of its release.

Nayanthara is often addressed as 'Lady Superstar' owing to her achievements in her career. However, in a recent interview, the actress politely asked the interviewer not to call her that, and the reason will leave you surprised. The actress had been on a promotional spree for her recently released film Annapoorani when the incident took place.
Why Nayanthara doesn't approve of being called Lady Superstar?
During the promotion of her film, the actress was introduced as Lady Superstar, but Nayanthara laughingly said that she doesn't like being called Lady Superstar as she feels scolded.
"Please don't call me Lady Superstar. Whenever someone says it, I feel like they're actually scolding me!" the actress said.

How did Nayanthara become the Lady Superstar' of Tamil cinema?
Nayanthara started just like any other heroine, singing duets and appearing in a few scenes such as Ayya (2005), Chandramukhi (2005), Vallavan (2006), Lakshmi (2006) and Super (2010), among others. However, it was after a hiatus of 11 months in 2012 that changed her career trajectory. She made her comeback with the action-entertainer Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum, co-starring Rana Daggubati, followed by the Tamil romantic drama Raja Rani (2013). While the actress continued to do commercial films, Nayanthara was not playing characters that were added to the script. She restricted her options and only signed the films, belonging to a specific genre, such as women-centric, arthouse, or commercial.

It was after the release of Kolamavu Kokila (2018) that Nayanthara earned the title of 'Lady Superstar'. It was one of the first few films led by a female actor to have 6 AM shows at the time of its release. Not only this, she was the only South Indian actress to make it to the list of highest-paid celebrities released by Forbes in 2018.
