Tamil actress Vichithra reveals she left acting due to casting couch experience: Lead south actor...
Vichithra made shocking revelations about her experiences with the casting couch. She said that a leading south actor had asked her to "come to his bedroom."
Vichithra, who quit the acting industry decades ago, finally revealed the reason behind her decision. The actress is currently part of a reality show where she made some shocking revelations about her experiences with the casting couch. Vichithra said that a leading south actor had asked her to "come to his bedroom."
Vichithra recalls the casting couch incident
Known for her powerful roles in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada movies, Vichithra described the terrifying experience to the other participants of the reality show. The actress recounted how a popular actor had suggested her for a part in the Telugu movie that was being filmed in Malampuzha.
She said, “He never asked my name but asked me to come to his room. It was a huge shock for me. That night, I went to my room and slept. From the next day, I started facing a lot of issues during shooting.”
When she declined, she was subjected to a variety of forms of harassment, including nighttime door-pounding disturbances. Vichithra turned to her future husband, Shaji, for support during the trauma, and he suggested that she switch rooms every day until the filming was over.
Vichithra made an attempt to get past the difficulties, but during an action scene, a stuntman touched her improperly. The actress was struck by the stunt director after she opened up about the incident to him.
Vichithra on quitting acting
Disturbed and dejected, Vichithra filed a report about the occurrence with the union and went after it legally. Her efforts were, however, in vain since no one stepped up to lend their support. The actress was deeply emotionally scarred by the event and began to doubt her position in the film industry. Ultimately, she made the decision to put her personal life first and take a break from acting.
The revelation coincides with a significant scandal engulfing the Tamil film industry following actor Mansoor Ali Khan's divisive remarks directed at Trisha Krishnan. Khan claimed in an interview that he had signed up for Vijay's Leo thinking he would have "bedroom" sequences with Trisha, but that she was never even shown on the sets.
