Thangalaan Box Office Collection Day 2: Chiyaan Vikram woos the audience with his never-seen-before avatar in Pa. Ranjith's directorial Thangalaan. In the movie, the actor plays the role of a tribal leader who fights Britishers for his tribe. The movie opened on a promising note, minting ₹13.3 crores with a maximum in the Tamil language - ₹11.7 crores, followed by Telugu (₹1.5 crores) and Malayalam (₹0.1 crore). However, on the second day, the movie has witnessed a major drop in the collection.

The action-adventure drama, co-starring  Parvathy Thiruvothu and Malavika Mohanan, earned ₹4 crore on the second day at the box office, according to early estimates reported by Sacnilk. Adding the 2-day collection, the total stands at ₹17.30 crore. Thangalaan had an overall 32.57 per cent Tamil occupancy on Friday with the maximum reported in the Trichy region (50.75 per cent).

Netizens call Thangalaan 'industry hit material'

Thangalaan was trending on X on the day of the release as movie buffs hailed the plot and performance of Vikram. A user called Thangalaan "industry hit material" and added, "Once again delivered from Chiyaan, man .. Whattey actor... He can eat 10 Kamalhasan for dinner." Another movie buff called the movie one of the "best theatrical experiences".  A fan also hailed the music of Thangalaan composed by GV Prakash. What is the plot of Thangalaan?

Set during the British Raj, the movie revolves around Thangalaan, a fierce tribal leader, and his tribe assisting Lord Clement, a British General, to trace gold in their village. While searching for the gold, the villagers earn the wrath of Aarathi, an apparent sorceress, and Thangalaan sets out to stop Aarathi with all his might.
