Vijay Sethupathi's son Surya to make his debut with Phoenix, shares photos from puja muhurat

Vijay Sethupathi's son Surya is set to make his acting debut as a lead actor with Phoenix. The film marks the directorial debut of renowned stunt choreographer Anl Arasu. Surya has been part of several films starring his father like Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Sindhubadh. However, they were all minor roles.

On November 24, Surya Sethupathi took to his Instagram handle, announcing his next film seemingly as a lead. He also revealed the first poster of Phoenix and shared photos posing with the cast and crew. In the caption, he wrote, "#Phoenix Pooja ".

During the media interaction, when Surya was questioned about following his father's footsteps in acting, he replied, "I decided not come in my father's shadows. So it was the director who found me and offered the role."

When asked about Vijay Sethupathi's reaction to his lead debut, to this, Surya said that his parents were happy. He adds, "Appa vera na vera (He is different, I am different). That's why the makers have put 'Introducing Surya' and not 'Introducing Surya Vijay Sethupathi'. Both Appa and amma were happy about me acting as a hero."

The text on the poster reads "ANL" Arasu in Phoenix introducing Surya. The film is written and directed by Anl Arasu and produced by Rajalakshmy Arasakumar under Brave Man Pictures. The technical crew includes composer Sam CS, cinematographer Velraj, and editor Praveen KL. The film is touted to be a full-blown action film as it is helmed by a stunt director, who is known for his work in films such as Jawan, Dabangg 3, Mersal, and Bigil.

When the director was asked about the title, he said that it is related to the lead character in the film. He said, "The main character in the film has the characteristics of a phoenix bird, which rise from the ashes every time it dies."

Apart from Phoenix, Surya also has Vidhuthalai 2 in the lineup where he will appear in a cameo role.
