What is the Taylor-Scooter controversy?

According to a report in an entertainment website, Taylor was a part of Scott Borchetta's record label company Big Machines Label Group when she started her career in 2005. Her contract with the label ended in November 2018. Taylor then decided to join the Universal Music Group. This is where all the problems began.

The central problem of the whole controversy that the Blank Space singer is a part of is that Scooter Braun owns all of the master recordings of Taylor's old songs. This means that only he holds the right to make, sell, or distribute copies. Taylor will always have to take the permission of Braun before she can make any copies of the same.

When Scooter's purchase of Taylor's records was announced in public, Swift was saddened and angered. Things worsened when artists like Justin Bieber, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian West came forward in open support of Scooter. Taylor made a long post on her social media account where she talked about how it is difficult for her to leave her old songs and move on. She also shared that she was bullied by Scooter as she was not allowed to perform her songs.
