Ali Baba shoot resumes post Tunisha Sharma's death; Abhishek Nigam replaces Sheezan Khan

'Alia Baba: Dastaan-e-Kabul' team resumes its shoot weeks after Tunisha Sharma's death in December. Sharma, 21, was the show's lead who died by suicide on the sets of the fantasy drama on December 24. 

Actor Abhishek Nigam has replaced lead actor Sheezan Khan and will now play the role of Ali Baba. 

The new lead shared a video on his Instagram handle and wrote: "Bass apka pyaar aur dua chahiye! (Just need your love). Alibaba’s strength lies in his resilience. I am getting associated with the cast of, Alibaba: Ek Andaz Andekha Chapter 2 as Alibaba. I know the show has received Love in abundance."

He added, "As an artist, my first duty will always be towards the viewers then those who have put their blood and sweat behind the screen. This is huge and I’ll try to keep my focus on ensuring to keep them entertained through my portrayal of this iconic character."

The makers of the show have reportedly painted the set in white, added more lights and hung new paintings. They also had a puja on the sets before resuming the shoot. 

Tunisha Sharma's death

Tunisha Sharma allegedly died by suicide on the sets of the show. She was found hanging in Sheezan Khan's make-up room. 

Tunisha and Sheezan were reportedly dating and broke up a few days before the former's death. Tunisha's mom accused Sheezan of abetment to suicide. 

Sheezan Khan was arrested on December 25 and is currently under judicial custody. As per the latest updates, the District and additional sessions judge of the Vasai court RD Deshpande rejected Sheezan's bail on Friday.
