It's controversial/ Amit Sana accuses channel of rigging voting to make Abhijeet Sawant win reality show

Amit Sana, who was the first-runner in the first season of the hit singing reality show, recently accused the show of being partial towards the winner Abhijeet Sawant. 19 years later, Sana allegedly accused the channel of blocking his voting lines two days before the finale.

In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Amit opened up about how things changed for Abhijeet Sawant when an actress praised his smile in one of the episodes. He continued that Abhijeet "was taken seriously after that". He accused the channel saying, "My voting lines got blocked out two days before the last day. It doesn’t get blocked on its own.”

In the interview, Sana added that there was some chatter about "political influence". “A lot of people say that there was some political influence involved during that period of time but that’s all just heresy. I haven’t researched it on my own,” he said.

Later in the interview, Sana apologised to Abhijeet for bringing up this topic after nearly two decades and justified the channel's actions. Defending the channel's decisions, he said that they have to consider various things before selecting a winner and it's not an electoral process where the channel has to be transparent.

For the unversed, Rahul Vaidya, singer and husband of Disha Parmar, is also from the same season and was declared the second runner-up.

Amit Sana has been in the music industry since 2005. Post the singing reality show, he released his first album Chaldiye composed by Vishal and Shekhar with Sony Music in 2005. He has also sung in films such as Kalyug (2005), Delhii Heights (2007), Sun Zara (2006) and Kubool Kar Le (2006).
