The trailer for the final season of Game of Thrones, which releases on April 14 (April 15 morning in India) has been released by HBO. Here it is:

The trailer begins with a narration by Arya Stark who is fleeing desperately from what can only be assumed to be 'death', narrating how she has done this before. There's a glimpse of Varys, and then the Iron Fleet containing (most-certainly) the Golden Company across the Narrow Sea.

The first big revelation is that Beric Dondarrion is still alive, and so is Tormund. In a puff of Sam's misty breath, the scene suddenly shifts to King's Landing, where Cersei looks mighty pleased with herself, her Hand Qyburne by her side and The Mountain looming behind them. The visit down south is fleeting, however, as meanwhile, another Army is marching up North, heading to Winterfell, with The Three-Eyed Crow watching. Among the Army - composed of Unsullied are Jon and Daenerys, and as they march in, Dragons - Drogon and Rhaegal - soar over an awestruck Lady of Winterfell who is watching from her ramparts.

"They're coming", says Jon as he and Dany share a moment in the Winterfell crypts, even as Gendry gets to work in the forges. We catch our first glimpse of Grey Worm and Missandei, who kiss before imminent danger, and Ser Jorah Mormont as well.

Jaime suddenly appears, clearly in the midst of battle along with the Hound, and back in the Red Keep, Cersei is drinking wine with both tears and a mad glint in her eyes. Dragons dive, then navigate through snow-clad valleys, Arya completely breathless at their magnificence. Grey Worm dons his helm, Jon stands before the Wierwood, Sandor Clegane steels himself, Jon rushes in to fight, he and Dany approach the two (living Dragons), Sansa contemplates, Tyrion looks worried, Dragonflame.

Finally, the living stand in wait - Brienne of Tarth among them - and in outside Winterfell, a skeletal foot and then another, takes a step forward.

The final season of Game Of Thrones will consist of six episodes, but they're longer than the standard 55-60 minutes of the 77 episodes that have come before.
