WarnerMedia owned HBO Max has roped in three prominent producers for three different upcoming original web series. The online streaming platform acquired the services of Elizabeth Banks, Issa Rae and Mindy Kaling for the upcoming series and the announcement was made by the company on October 29 at the formal unveiling of HBO Max.
DC Super Hero High
Elizabeth Banks' Brownstone Productions and writer, Scott Weinger's show, DC Super Hero High is a story of a group of high school students at a boarding school for children who are gifted. The story follows the group trying to live through the pressures of high school without realizing the fact that one day, they will all be superheroes. John D. Beck and Ron Hart will also be one of the executive producers on the show.
Rap Sh*t
Issa Rae's show, Rap Sh*t, will follow the story of an all-female rap group from outside the city of Miami, trying to make it big in the music industry. The series will have Issa Rae as the writer and an executive producer alongside Montreal McKay of Issa Rae Productions, Jonathan Berry and Dave Becky as the other executive producers.
College Girls
Mindy Kaling's comedy series, College Girls, will revolve around three 18-year-old freshman roommates at Evermore College in Vermont and it has been given the green light for a 13-episode series run. As per the description provided by the online streaming service, these sexually active college girls will have an equal balance of lovable and infuriating personalities. Mindy will also be donning the hat of the writer, executive producer and the showrunner of the series under the deal that she inked with WarnerMedia. Kaling International will be producing the show in association with WarnerMedia alongside 3 Arts Entertainment's Howard Klein as one of the executive producers of the show.
Head of original content at HBO Max, Sarah Aubrey, stated that Banks, Rae and Kaling are three of the most talented people in the industry and are now bringing original content to HBO Max. While Kaling's 13-episode College Girls is ready, DC Super Hero High and Rap Sh*t are still in the pre-production stage.
