Why Did ED Summon Karan Wahi, Krystle And Other TV Actors? All About Illegal Forex Trading Scam
ED recorded the statements of TV actors Krystle D'Souza & Karan Wahi in a money laundering case connected to the illegal online forex trading app, OctaFx.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday questioned television actress Krystle D'Souza and Karan Wahi for promoting the forex trading platform OctaFX. The ED recorded the actors' statement as part of its money laundering investigation against the trading platform which an allegedly illegal.
Why did Krystle D'Souza and Karan Wahi were summoned?
ED recorded the statements of TV actors Krystle D'Souza & Karan Wahi in a money laundering case connected to the illegal online forex trading app, OctaFx. The agency had also summoned actor Nia Sharma, but she sought more time due to prior professional commitments. It is alleged that these actors had promoted the app.
ED began the investigation based on a First Information Report registered against OctaFx by the Pune police, Shivaji Nagar Police Station, under various sections of IPC and Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act.
What is the Forex trading case all about?
According to multiple reports, the Saint Lucia registered company and OctaFx India Pvt Ltd cheated investors of over Rs500 crore through illegal forex trading. A chunk of this amount was transferred abroad through complex transactions and other means. The reports claimed that the app and its website are not authorised by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). During the probe, ED has frozen bank funds of Rs 2.7 crore, along with assets worth Rs 35 crore in the form of cryptocurrencies and other important documents.
Who are Krystle D'Souza and Karan Wahi?
Krystle made her acting debut in 2007 with the role of Kinjal Pandey in Kahe Naa Kahe and had her breakthrough with Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai where she portrayed Jeevika Vadhera. She is also best known for her portrayal in TV shows such as Ek Nayi Pehchaan, Brahmarakshas and Belan Wali Bahu. She made her web debut with Fittrat in 2019 and her Bollywood debut with Chehre (2021), alongside Emraan Hashmi.
Karan, on the other hand, is currently being seen in the popular web series Raisinghani vs Raisinghani, co-starring Jennifer Winget and Reem Shaikh.
