Bollywood Kare Toh Problematic? Netizens Troll 'Cringe' Pushpa 2 Trailer, Allu Arjun's 'Overacting'

Pushpa 2: Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil's Pushpa: The Rule trailer was unveiled at an event in Patna and quickly became a trending topic online. While a section of social media users praised how one of the most-anticipated movies of 2024 has turned out to be, others were quick to point out how the sequel uses a similar template of "cringe" dialogues and hero worship to rake in money at the box office.

Pushpa 2 trailer receives criticism

Many on social media pointed out how brazenly Pushpa 2 is promoting toxic masculinity through its titular character. The first installment was also met with similar criticism and it seems like, the sequel will follow a similar trajectory of glorifying "problematic characters". Instances have already been shared on social media, with many posting screenshots of dialogues and scenes that are "cringeworthy".

Many claimed that while the audiences and critics were liking Puhspa's “swag” in the trailer, similar scenes in Bollywood movies would be heavily crticised. 

Fahadh Faasil adds a layer of intrigue to Pushpa 2 trailer

The trailer shows several electrifying moments mostly in terms of action set pieces featuring Allu Arjun. There’s also a glimpse of Rashmika Mandanna’s character of Srivalli in the movie. However, the game truly changes with the entry of the Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil in the trailer. The eccentricity of Fahadh’s character while he essays a cop makes for a perfect antagonistic force for Allu Arjun’s character of sandalwood smuggler, Pushpa.

Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the music of the film is from T Series. Pushpa 2: The Rule went through production delays as the makers moved its release date from August 15 to December 5.
