KA vs Lucky Bhaskar Box Office: Diwali 2024 came with a treat for cine-goers on the big screens. Films from across languages released in theatres making the audience spoilt for choice. KA and Lucky Bhaskar were the two Telugu releases apart from Amaran and Bagheera which were dubbed in the language. Released in a clash, the Dulquer Salmaan film has performed marginally better than the Kiran Abbavaram starrer thriller.
Kiran Abbavaram's thriller KA fails to pick up the pace at the box office on day 2
Kiran Abbavaram has been going through a string of flops. His last release Rules Ranjann (2023) earned a dismal ₹30 Lakhs in a lifetime collection. The actor had pinned all his hopes on KA and even claimed that he would ‘quit’ acting in case the film did not work.
As per Sacnilk, the movie has minted ₹ 3.5 Cr on day 1. It had also raked in ₹ 0.3 Cr collected in previews. On day 2 of release, KA earned a dismal ₹ 0.7 Cr taking the film's total to a modest ₹ 7.5 Crore. KA is jointly directed by Sujith and Sandeep. The film is marketed as a ‘spiritual thriller’ that follows the life of a postman who has a habit of reading the letter received by others. The postman, one day wakes up in a prison cell, being investigated by a masked man. Why he is in lockup and how he makes his way out makes the rest of the story.
Regardless of the box office collection, Kiran Abbavaram took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to express gratitude to his fans for owing the success of KA. The actor wrote in Telugu, which translates to, “Thank you for owning my success. Grateful. Blessed.”
Dulquer Salmaan's Lucky Bhaskar tumps KA, but registers a decline in business on day 2 at the box office
Dulquer Salmaan has bounced back after the debacle of King of Kotha and a 14-month hiatus. Helmed by Venky Atluri, the period financial crime thriller, Lucky Bhaskar performed well at the box office on the opening day. However, the movie has failed to maintain the pace in the Diwali weekend.
On its opening day, the movie earned ₹6.6 crores at the box office in India and an additional ₹90 lakh collection on Wednesday from preview shows. On Day 2, as per Sacnilk, Lucky Bhaskar minted ₹ 6.25 Cr, taking the film's total to ₹ 13.60 Cr. The coming days, until the release of Suriya's Kanguva, remain crucial to assess the lifetime collections of both films.
