Kalki 2898 AD Sequel To Arrive Sooner Than Expected, Producer Ashwini Shares Update On Prabhas’ Film

Kalki 2898 AD hit the big screens on June 27. The science fiction movie is directed by Nag Ashwin and combines elements of science with the Indian epic - Mahabharata. Set in a world 600 years after the Kurukshetra war, the movie stars Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Disha Patani and Kamal Hasaan in pivotal roles. The two-part movie has received a massively positive commercial and critical response. The movie makers have now shared an update on the much-anticipated sequel of the movie. 

Kalki 2898 AD part 2 to release soon? 

The first part of the two-part magnum opus opened to a staggering response from the audience. The movie broke several box office records on the day of release itself. The first part concludes with the words, “To be continued…” which has raised audience anticipation for the sequel. 

An X (formerly Twitter) user quoted the head of Vyjayanti Films' (production house for Kalki 2898 AD), Ashwini Dutta sharing that the work on the second part of the film is almost complete. The user quoted the head of production saying, “#Kalki2898AD part 2 has been completed almost 60%. Only major portions are left to shot. We are not decided on release date.” Fans of the films are now waiting for an update on the release date of the second part. 

Kalki 2898 AD registers massive business at the box office

Kalki 2898 AD opened to a staggering ₹95.3 crore at the domestic box office, becoming the highest opening movie of the year so far. The Hindi version of the magnum opus alone minted ₹22.5 crore on day 1. The business saw a slight dip on day 2 owing to it being a working Friday. The Prabhas starrer raked in ₹57.6 crore on the second day (Friday) as per Sacnilk. The film has made a total of ₹152.9 crore at the domestic box office in a 2-day theatrical run. 

On the worldwide front too the Prabhas-Amitabh Bachchan film has left the audience mighty impressed. At the end of two days, Kalki 2898 AD has minted ₹298.5 crore at the worldwide box office, as per the numbers provided by the production company of the film.
