Matka Box Office Collection Day 2: Varun Tej Starrer Is Struggling, Earns ₹70 Lakh

Matka Box Office Collection: Varun Tej's periodic drama met with a disappointing start at the box office. Despite the actor being praised for his performance, the movie remained under ₹1 crore, becoming his career's lowest opening. It was expected that on the second day, the movie would see a spike, but instead, it's steady.

Helmed by Karuna Kumar, the movie minted ₹70 lakh at the box office in India, early estimates reported by Sacnilk. On the first day, the movie earned ₹71 lakh at the domestic box office. Adding the two-day collection, the total stands at ₹1.41 crore. Matka had an overall 14.56 per cent Telugu occupancy on Friday with the maximum reported in Visakhapatnam (20.25 per cent).

Varun is going through a rough patch in his career as his recently released movie Matka is also struggling at the box office. The actor was hoping that he would make his comeback with this movie but it turned out to be a failure.

What is the plot of Matka?

The movie, also starring Meenakshii Chaudhary and Nora Fatehi, takes place between 1958 and 1982 and is based on a real incident that shook the entire nation and the story is set in the backdrop of Vizag. The story spans 24 years, following the life of Vasu, a prominent Matka gambler and gangster. Apart from Telugu, the movie has also released in  Hindi, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam.
