Lucky Baskhar: Dulquer Salmaan’s new period crime drama is a smash hit at the box office and shows no signs of slowing down. The film hit the big screens on October 31, coinciding with the Diwali holiday. Helmed by Venky Atluri, the film minted ₹6.6 crores at the box office in India and an additional ₹90 lakh collection on Wednesday from preview shows. Following a 14-month break after the setback of King of Kotha, Dulquer's performance is winning the hearts of many this time. Amid the success of the film, reports are circulating that the role of Lucky Bhaskar was first offered to Jersey star Nani.

Was Actor Nani the first choice for Lucky Baskhar?

Despite, facing stiff competition from other films, Lucky Baskhar is performing well at the box office. Now, social media is buzzing with rumours that the lead role wasn't initially offered to the Sita Ramam actor. According to 123Telugu, there was talk that Nani was first offered the role but declined immediately because he didn’t want to play a father.

Following this, Venky Atluri reportedly approached Dulquer. However, a source close to the production claims the rumour about Nani rejecting the film is untrue. The filmmakers always had Dulquer Salmaan in mind, with Venky Atluri and co-producer Trivikram Srinivas suggesting his name.

Fans now speculate that while Nani might have brought his own style to the character, Dulquer's performance has lifted the film to new heights. Additionally, after its successful theatre run, the film's OTT deal has already been finalised.

According to several reports, Lucky Baskhar will start streaming on Netflix after its theatrical run concludes. The film is expected to premiere on November 30, although the official streaming date has not yet been confirmed. 

It is likely to be available on the platform around eight weeks after its cinema release.
