Ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Shiv Sena put up hoardings of their candidate Aaditya Thackeray which said, "How are you, Worli?" in different languages across areas of Worli in Mumbai. The party had earlier confirmed on Sunday that Aaditya Thackeray will contest the State elections from the Worli constituency which makes him the first member of the Thackeray family to contest the elections. If he wins, he will also be the first member to represent the people. Several leaders of the party have also been projecting the youth leader as the Chief Minister (CM) candidate of Maharashtra.
"How are you, Worli?" asks Aaditya Thackeray
In order to woo the voters of Worli, the party put up vibrant posters and hoardings of Aaditya Thackeray. The posters read, "How are you, Worli?" in several languages like Gujarati, Urdu, and Telugu. One of the posters was also put up in Marathi that read, 'Namaste Worli' which translates to 'Hello Worli'. After the announcement of his candidature, the Shiv Sena party launched an extensive campaign to expand its vote bank. Earlier, the BJP had announced its alliance with Shiv Sena with a seat-sharing formula of 162-126 for the upcoming polls. To lay the groundwork for his campaigning, Aaditya has been on a Jan Ashirwad Yatra since July and completed the fourth phase of the yatra on September 18. In the four phases, he has covered 111 assembly constituencies in 25 districts. He is going to begin the fifth phase on Tuesday, October 2, from Nagpur.
Aaditya Thackeray: The young Shiv Sena leader
In 2010, Aaditya Thackeray was appointed as the Yuva Sena President of Shiv Sena. Subsequently, he was named a 'leader' of the Shiv Sena in 2018. Ever since the Shiv Sena was formed in 1966 by Bal Thackeray, no member of the family had contested any election or held any constitutional post. Aaditya is all set to become the first member of the Thackeray family to contest any polls in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. The State polls are scheduled to be held on October 21 whereas the counting of votes will be done on October 24.
