In a sharp jibe at the BJP, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Friday sought to know from the saffron party about its chief ministerial candidate who will take on Arvind Kejriwal in upcoming elections in Delhi. AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has written a letter to BJP leader Vijay Goel asking three questions. In the letter, the AAP leader has attempted to corner the BJP, posing three questions that he said the people of Delhi want to ask the saffron party and appealed receive a response within 24 hours. Sanjay Singh also addressed a press briefing in Delhi, taking a dig at BJP. Speaking at the briefing, the AAP MP said he was confused about who should the letter be addressed to as there are three CM candidates from Delhi BJP.
"People of Delhi want to ask BJP some questions which is why I am writing this letter. As you have three chief ministerial candidates, I was in a dilemma as to whom should I address it to. Since you are the senior-most and experienced, I chose to address it to you," Singh said hinting at Vijay Goel as per news agency PTI.
AAP poses three questions for BJP
In the letter, AAP has sought answers from the BJP on three issues - Firstly, if his party favoured free electricity up to 200 units to Delhiites. Secondly, if the BJP was in favour of waiving water arrears for the people. Thirdly, "Who is the CM candidate from BJP to take on Arvind Kejriwal in the upcoming Delhi polls?". Sanjay Singh has urged Vijay Goel to give "simple, straight" answers. He further took a jibe at the BJP saying that either they don't answer questions or they duck them.
"BJP never gives simple, straight answers. It either avoids a question by not answering or by ducking it. I request them to give simple reply to the people of Delhi on these issues. I am hopeful he will respond within 24 hours," he said in his letter. The assembly elections in the national capital are scheduled to take place later this year.
Rift in BJP Delhi?
Amid the preparations for the upcoming elections, the ruling party in Delhi, AAP-led Arvind Kejriwal has been alleging in-fighting among local BJP leaders for the face of Delhi CM. Earlier addressing media, AAP MP Sanjay Singh had claimed that the Delhi BJP leaders are sacrificing public interest in the desperation to become the Chief Minister. The AAP leader also alleged that there have been rifts within the Delhi unit of BJP leaders, claiming that they are not able to decide who will run which program.
