BJP in a fix, yet to reveal candidates for Uttar Pradesh by-polls

The political scenario seems tense in Uttar Pradesh as BJP seems to be in a fix and it is yet to announce the list of all the candidates for upcoming by-polls

The Bhartiya Janata Party seems to be in a fix as it is yet to announce the list of all the candidates for the by-polls. The political scenario at the moment is tense in Uttar Pradesh. The Election Commission on September 22 announced by-polls for the Rampur, Gangoh, Iglas, Lucknow Cantt, Zaidpur, Manikpur, Balha, Pratapgarh, Hamirpur, Ghosi, and Jalalpur seats. Although the BJP is yet to release its list of candidates, the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) has announced its candidates for the by-poll seats. The Congress has announced most of the names whereas the Samajwadi Party (SP) has disclosed some.

Uttar Pradesh by-polls 

As per reports, the discussions are still on in the BJP regarding the final list of the candidates. There is an ongoing dialogue among the party members regarding the names suggested by-poll in-charges for every constituency. There have been more than 20 ticket seekers staking a claim to each assembly seat. There are seemingly 28 ticket seekers in Zaidpur constituency in Barabanki district, 25 in Lucknow Cantt, 20 in Tundla and some more in other constituencies. The BJP, in an effort to win, desires to put forward bankable candidates. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath so far has been conducting rallies in the constituencies. The Chief Minister has ensured some announcement regarding the by-polls in all the rallies he has addressed so far.

Election Commission announcement 

The Election Commission (EC) has announced by-polls to 64 assembly seats and one Lok Sabha constituency. This will be spread across 18 states and will be conducted on October 21, 2019. Although the assembly by-elections will be held on 64 assembly seats, the Samastipur Lok Sabha constituency in Bihar will also have a poll. These assembly seats include 15 in Karnataka and 11 in Uttar Pradesh. The assembly seats in UP mostly belong to the MLAs who had won the Lok Sabha election and have resigned as members of the State assembly.
