BSP names two women in the candidates list for the Haryana polls

Mayawati led BSP released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Haryana assembly polls, which contains the names of two women. BSP will contest alone.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) on Sunday released the first list of candidates for the upcoming Haryana polls. In this list, two women, Shakuntala Bhatti, and Sunita Dhull have also been named. Bhatti has been nominated for Shahbad (reserved) whereas Dhull has been nominated for Pundri. The state will be going to polls on October 21.

To contest independently

The BSP will be fighting the elections on its own after calling off an alliance with Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party recently. The Haryana Assembly has 90 seats. The list was released by the party's state President Prakash Bharti. The lsit of the remaining candidates is expected to be known soon. The last date for filing nominations is October 4. 12 candidates have been named from the reserved constituencies.

The list has been cleared by BSP chief and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mayawati, the list specifies. In the assembly, 17 seats are reserved for women.

LSP list

Meanwhile, the Loktantra Suraksha Party (LSP) led by former Kurukshetra MP Raj Kumar Saini, which is also contesting the assembly polls, on Sunday announced names of 16 candidates for the assembly polls. The list includes party's state unit chief Bharat Singh Chhokar, who will be contesting from Samalkha.

While the main contest for the next month's polls is seen between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and the main opposition Congress, other players in the poll ring include the Indian National Lok Dal, JJP formed after a vertical split in the INLD, AAP, Swaraj India party and the LSP

Maharashtra and Haryana will be going to polls on October 21, with the counting of the polls to be on October 24.
