Haryana's Hoodas get Cong go-ahead, speak to JJP's Chautala: Sources
Even as the vote-counting trends come in for Haryana, sources said that Congress leaders Bhupinder Hooda and Deepender Hooda spoke to JJP's Dushyant Chautala
Even as the excitement builds as poll trends come in for the state of Haryana, visuals on Republic TV showed deep discussion between Congress leaders Bhupinder Singh Hooda and his son Deepender Hooda, with sources saying that the Hoodas have been given a go-ahead to attempt to form a government in the state. As per inputs, overtures have been made to Jannayak Janata Party's (JJP) Dushyant Chautala about prospects of the post-poll alliance. However, earlier speaking to Republic TV, Dushyant Chautala from his Jind office said that he will make the decision on post-poll alliance after final results are in.
Meanwhile, the suspense continues for Haryana assembly results as BJP at 1 PM remains shy of the halfway mark. While Congress leads in 32 seats, the JJP is leading in 10, with the halfway mark at 45. Hooda is likely to address a news briefing in Rohtak.
Haryana elections overview
As polling was concluded in Haryana on October 21, the Election Commission in its press briefing said that the final turnout was recorded as 65%. As per EC, the state had 19,578 polling stations for 1.83 crore voters, including 85 lakh women and 252 transgenders. While the BJP is eyeing at a second term under Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, the Congress wants a comeback in the state. The campaigning by the BJP focussed on the abrogation of Article 370 and the corruption-free image of Khattar, while the Congress highlighted the law and order problems during Khattar's tenure. However, Congress had to face a huge setback as its former chief Ashok Tanwar resigned ahead of polls. Adding to the embarrassment, a video of Congress leader Bhupinder Hooda, Ahmed Patel, and Ghulam Nabi Azad went viral in which they said the party would barely win 10-12 seats.
