Pawan Kalyan has been among the list of actors turning politicians, a transition that has been the norm for many years, right from NTR, Jayalalitha, Amitabh Bachchan many decades ago to recent ones like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan. The Tollywood star, who had launched his party Jana Sena in 2014, will be contesting for the elections for the first time in the Lok Sabha polls. Amid the buzz over the elections, his intense campaigning and illness, the actor-politician was snapped while casting his vote as the first phase kicked off on Thursday.
Heavily bearded and adorning an all-white traditional avatar of kurta-veshti, Pawan Kalyan was snapped arriving at a polling booth set up at Chaitanya School in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
Earlier in the day, his elder brother, also an actor-politician, Chiranjeevi and nephew Ram Charan, along with their wives, were also spotted casting their votes in Hyderabad.
Pawan Kalyan was severely ill a few days ago and Ram Charan had even visited him, expressing concern for him while urging people to support his party.
Despite the ill health, he had gone ahead with the campaigning and another Telugu star, Allu Arjun, had expressed support for him at a rally a few days ago.
The former was also snapped voting earlier in the day.
Jr NTR, Nagarjuna, Naga Chaitanya-Samantha, Amala Akkineni, were among the other stars from the Telugu film industry that were spotted at the voting booths.
25 seats in Andhra Pradesh and 17 in Telangana are being contested for in the Lok Sabha polls. Pawan Kalyan will be contesting from Bhimavaram in West Godavari and from the Gajuwaka constituency in Visakhapatnam.
