Congress candidates from Mumbai, Priya Dutt and Urmila Matondkar files their nomination for the Lok Sabha polls on Monday as the members of their families also supported them.
Sanjay Dutt joined his sister as she arrived at the Bandra Collector Office in the afternoon. Priya will be contesting from Mumbai North Central constituency. Congress leader and fomer MLA Baba Siddique was also spotted along with the sibling duo, who flashed the victory sign for the media persons.
Sanjay had earlier cleared the air that he was not going to contest in the upcoming general elections, after reports that he was to fight the polls from Ghaziabad had surfaced. The actor had asserted his support for his sister then.
Urmila, too, filed her nomination as a candidate from Mumbai North constituency. It's not clear if her husband Mohsin Akhtar Mir accompanied her at the time of nominations, but he did turn up to support her during campaigning.
The actor-turned politician recently sparked a row with a comment allegedly terming Hinduism as the ‘most violent religion in the world.’ However, she later clarified that she was ‘misquoted’ and the allegations were 'bogus and baseless.'
