Maharashtra: Fadnavis kickstarts "Mumbai walks with BJP" campaign

Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis kick-started the 'Mumbai walks with BJP' campaign at Marine Drive on Sunday ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis kick-started the 'Mumbai walks with BJP' campaign at Marine Drive in Mumbai on Sunday. Ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the aim of the campaign is to garner votes in support of the BJP. The Chief Minister was seen on Mumbai's famous Marine Drive accompanied by many party workers. The Chief Minister also spoke to locals and people on morning walks during the march.

'Mumbai will be with us in 2019'

In a media statement at the event, the Chief Minister said that Mumbai will be with the BJP.

"In 2014, Mumbai was with us and I believe in 2019 also Mumbai will be with us."

 He was also accompanied by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.

CM attacks Rahul Gandhi in Nagpur

The Chief Minister also conducted a rally in Maharashtra's Nagpur district. The Chief Minister who hails from Nagpur is also contesting the elections from one of the seats from Nagpur. In his rally, he attacked the Congress party and its President.

"Gandhi is seen nowhere. When polls were announced, I thought he will come for campaigning in the state. On not seeing him here, I thought he maybe campaigning in Haryana. I even enquired for him in his Wayanad constituency. But then I learnt he was in Bankok. He knows it well that it will be a futile exercise to come here. He knows that his party's numbers are going to drop," he said.

Maharashtra Assembly Polls

Legislative Assembly election is planned to be held in Maharashtra on October 21, 2019, to elect the 288 members of Legislative Assembly. Maharashtra assembly elections will be held in a single-phase and the counting procedure would be conducted on October 24.
