Maharashtra: CM Fadnavis' Nagpur SW seat prepares for vote-counting
Preparations are underway at the counting centre for Nagpur South-West constituency, ahead of the big announcement of the results of Maharashtra Assembly polls.
Just a few hours before the announcement of results of the crucial Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly elections, preparations are underway at the counting centre for Nagpur South-West constituency on Thursday morning. According to reports, the counting centre is being set up with a proper seating arrangement for the officials. The Nagpur South-West constituency is the hometown of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who is projected to win the assembly elections this year.
Fadnavis projected to win
As per the Republic-Jan ki Baat exit poll survey held on October 21, CM Devendra Fadnavis is projected to win the Maharashtra Assembly elections for the Nagpur South-West constituency by beating Congress' Ashish Deshmukh and others. According to reports, CM Devendra Fadnavis has held Nagpur South West seat since 2009.
Nagpur South West Assembly constituency
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had contested the 2014 Assembly polls as a senior leader of the party from the State and had won by a margin of more than 30,000 votes. Fadnavis was appointed as the corporator in the Nagpur civic body at the age of just 22. Later, Fadnavis was appointed as the Mayor of the city. For the past three consecutive Assembly elections, Fadnavis has been heading the Nagpur South-West constituency in Maharashtra.

Exit poll survey
As per the Republic-Jan ki Baat exit poll survey, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to secure seats in the range of 216 to 230. The BJP is projected to lay hold of a significant majority with 135 to 142 seats, while the ally Shiv Sena is projected to secure 81 to 88 seats in Maharashtra. On the other hand, Sharad Pawar's NCP is projected to win 30 to 35 seats, and Congress is projected to grab 20 to 24 seats to the UPA alliance.
Maharashtra Assembly polls
In the 2019 Maharashtra Assembly elections, the 'Mahayuti' alliance of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Shiv Sena, and smaller parties is up against the 'Maha-agadhi' led by the Congress and the National Congress Party (NCP). In the 288-member Assembly, the BJP is contesting on 164 seats, which includes candidates of smaller allies. On the other hand, the Shiv Sena has fielded 126 candidates. The Congress has candidates in 147 constituencies, and NCP will contest 121 seats. According to the Election Commission's announcement, the current term of the Maharashtra Assembly will come to an end on November 2.
