MNS releases first list of 27 candidates for upcoming assembly polls
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, on Tuesday, released the first list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly elections to be held on October 21.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, on Tuesday, released the first list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Maharashtra state assembly elections. As the first list of candidates show 27 constituencies from where the leaders will be fielded, it does not name a candidate from Worli in Mumbai. Shiv Sena’s youth wing leader Aaditya Thackeray, son of Raj's cousin Uddhav Thackeray, will be making his electoral debut from the Worli constituency in Mumbai. MNS did not contest the Lok Sabha polls held earlier this year. However, MNS supremo Raj Thackeray held rallies urging people to not vote for the current Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
List of candidates from important constituencies
The state is set to go for polls on October 21 and the results will be declared on October 24. The MNS has fielded Kishor Shinde from Kothrud seat in Pune city, against state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil. They have also fielded Ratan Patil from Kalyan Rural, Prakash Bhoir from Kalyan (West), Prakash Murtadak from Nashik (East), Sandeep Deshpande from Mahim, Karna Bala Dunbale from Chembur and Sanjay Turde from Kalina. Further in the list are Akhil Chitre from Bandra (East) and Ganesh Chukkal from Ghatkopar, Virendra Jadhav from Goregaon, Sandeep Desai from Versova, Arun Surve from Dindoshi and Rajesh Yerunkar from Dahisar. Following is the list released by MNS.
Aditya Thackeray to contest polls from Worli
Aaditya Thackeray is ready to contest the upcoming assembly polls from Worli constituency in Mumbai. Even after the long history of Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, Aaditya will be the first-ever member from the Thackeray family to contest the elections. If he wins the elections, he will also become the first direct member of the family to represent the people. The Youth wing leader earlier this year went on a Jan Ashirwad Yatra to take blessings from the people across Maharashtra before contesting the elections. As the BJP and Shiv Sena are going to contest the assembly polls together, Aaditya Thackeray’s name is also doing the rounds for the post of Deputy Chief Minister.
BJP releases their first list
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) also released its first list of 125 candidates for the October 21 Maharashtra Assembly polls on Tuesday. This list includes expected names like Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and state unit president Chandrakant Patil, but high-profile figures Eknath Khadse and Vindo Tawde are missing from it. Fadnavis, the first BJP chief minister of the state, will seek a consecutive fifth term from Nagpur South West. Whereas, Chandrakant Patil, a two-time Maharashtra Legislative Council member, will make his Assembly election debut from Kothrud in Pune.
