BJP senior leader Subramanian Swamy on Friday said that the Supreme Court (SC) appointed Ram Temple Mediation Committee has invited him to suggest a solution to resolve the Ram Janmbhoomi- Babri Masjid land dispute. Addressing the media, Mr Subramanian informed that
The Rajya Sabha MP and former Union minister had tweeted this decision:
On March 8 2019, a five-member Constitution SC Bench had issued an order appointing a three-member mediation panel consisting of retired Supreme Court Justice Fakkir Mohamed Ibrahim Kalifulla, spiritual guru and founder of Art of Living Foundation- Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and senior Madras High Court advocate Sriram Panchu. The panel was given an 8-week deadline to conclude with the mediation in utmost confidentiality.
Before this SC order, Subramanian Swamy had said in an interview with Republic TV, that he expected the Ram Mandir debate to be a pre-poll resolution.
"The title holder claimants need 8 weeks more to check the translation from documents. During these 8 weeks, the court wants to explore. But my opinion is that it's a waste of time because the land has already been nationalised by the government", he said, highlighting his disapproval of the mediation process.
Swamy had reiterated his belief saying,” Ram Mandir being constructed is certain, it's only a matter of time”.
While the mediation process has started on 13 March 2019 at Awadh University at Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh with the committee members and its stakeholders, the committee has directed that there should not be any reporting of the mediation proceedings in print or other media, invoking utmost confidentiality.
