Hours after Delhi Congress chief Sheila Dikshit announced no alliance with Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in New Delhi for the Lok Sabha polls, sulking AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal lashed out at the Rahul Gandhi-led party on social media.
Taking it to Twitter on Tuesday, Arvind Kejriwal went on to allege that there are 'rumours' that 'Congress has some secret understanding with BJP in Delhi' adding that Congress is helping BJP by 'splitting anti-BJP votes'. Furthermore, speaking about an alleged 'Cong-BJP alliance in Delhi, Kejriwal claimed to defeat 'this unholy alliance'.
"At a time when the whole country wants to defeat Modi- Shah duo, Cong is helping BJP by splitting anti-BJP vote. Rumours r that Cong has some secret understanding wid BJP. Delhi is ready to fight against Cong-BJP alliance. People will defeat this unholy alliance," reads the AAP convenor's tweet.
Amid the ongoing speculations over alliance with AAP in New Delhi for 2019 polls, Sheila Dikshit on Tuesday cleared the air saying that the Congress party's Delhi leadership has unanimously decided against the gathbandhan with AAP.
The decision was taken by the party leaders after the meeting with Congress chief Rahul Gandhi. Addressing the media following meeting, former Delhi CM Sheila Dixit said,
"In the meeting we have unanimously decided against gathbandhan with the Aam Aadmi Party. The decision was taken before Rahul Gandhi so it is final. There is no alliance."
Ending speculations of an alliance with the Congress, AAP on March 2 had announced the names of party candidates on six of seven seats in Delhi for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Addressing the media briefing, Delhi AAP convener Gopal Rai said Atishi will contest from East Delhi, Guggan Singh from North-West Delhi, Raghav Chadha from South, Dilip Pandey from North-East, Pankaj Gupta from Chandni Chowk and Brijesh Goyal will contest from New Delhi seats.
