1,475 fresh COVID cases take Delhi tally to 1,21,582; death toll climbs to 3,597

According to the health department's latest bulletin, over one lakh people have recovered from the infection in the city.

Delhi's COVID-19 tally on Saturday climbed to over 1.21 lakh cases while 26 more coronavirus fatalities were recorded, equivalent to the figure the day before when the lowest single-day death count in the national capital was reported since June 9.

According to the health department's latest bulletin, over one lakh people have recovered from the infection in the city.

On Saturday, Delhi recorded 1,475 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the tally in the city to 1,21,582, while the death toll from the disease mounted to 3,597, authorities said.

This is the eighth consecutive day when fresh cases have been reported in the range of 1000-2000.

Twenty-six fatalities have been recorded in the last 24 hours, according to the bulletin.

On Friday too the city had reported 26 deaths, the lowest single-day COVID-19 fatality count since June 9.  However, the number of cases reported on Saturday was slightly higher than Friday's figure of 1,462.

The active cases tally on Saturday was 16,711, down from 17,235, the previous day.  On June 23, the national capital had reported the highest single-day spike till date of 3,947 cases.

While the cases had gradually dipped from July 11-13 (July 11 reported 1,781 cases, July 12 had 1,574 and July 13 had 1,246 cases), from Tuesday onwards the numbers were showing a marginally upward trend.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the number of cases reported were 1606; 1647 and 1652 respectively. On Friday, the number again dipped, marginally rising on Saturday.

The death toll from COVID-19 in Delhi stood at 3,571 on Friday. Saturday's bulletin said the death toll from coronavirus infection has risen to 3,597 and the total number of cases mounted to 1,21,582.

According to the bulletin, 1,01,274 patients have recovered, been discharged or migrated so far. The number of Rapid Antigen Tests conducted on Saturday stood at 15,412 while the RT-PCR, CBNAAT and True NAAT tests figures were 6,246, in all adding to 21,658 tests, according to the bulletin.

The total number of tests done till date in Delhi stands at 7,98,783. The number of tests done per million as on Friday was 42,041, it said. On Saturday, the number of containment zones stood at 678.
