After the Jammu and Kashmir government issued a security advisory on Friday, asking Amarnath Yatris to curtail their stay and return back from the valley, sources have reported that Yatris are being airlifted out of Kashmir on a camp-wise basis.
Sources have further reported that the administration has sufficient helicopters and plane to airlift all yatris (travellers) camped at the base camps. Furthermore, many of the yatris will reportedly be moved via trains and buses out of the Valley.
Yatris back forces
Reporting from the Bhagawati Nagar base camp in Jammu, many travellers have said that stand by their forces while hoping to continue their Yatra to the Amarnath shrine, in conversation with Republic TV.
While many travellers have come from distant places throughout the country, all have commended the tight security measures done by the government and the Army. One traveller said that as the Army has deployed an additional 18 battalion troops, he had full faith in our government hoping that they will be able to successfully complete our Yatra.
J&K Govt issues security advisory
Earlier in the day, the Jammu and Kashmir government issuing an unprecedented security advisory had asked Amarnath Yatris to curtail their stay and return back from the valley.
"Keeping in view the latest intelligence inputs of terror threats, with specific targetting of the Amarnath Yatra, and given the prevailing security situation in the Kashmir Valley, in the interest of safety and security of the tourists and Amarnath Yatris, it is adviced that they may curtail their stay in the valley immediately and take necessary measures to return as soon as possible," states the advisory.
Army exposes Pak threat
The advisory comes hours after a joint press brief was held by Chinar Corps Commander Lt General KJS Dhillon and J&K DGP Dilbag Singh in Srinagar, wherein they categorically stated that Pakistan Army and Pakistan is 'desperate to disrupt' the peace in Kashmir and that there was a 'massive threat of IEDs'.
Earlier in the day, sources had reported that additional 25000 paramilitary personnel are being moved to the valley. This is in addition to the Centre's move to deploy 10,000 paramilitary troops in the Kashmir valley. MHA sources cited internal security assessment, training and resting troops as the reason for deployment.
