The Chief Minister of Punjab said, “Earlier there were reports of terrorists infiltrating from Jammu area, but we have to be on alert and our police are on alert. In this the National Intelligence Agency is here and so is the National Forensic Agency. So, until the investigation is completed it's tough to say anything. The police force is out in full force and there is nothing to be concerned about.”

Upon being asked that Nirankaris were targeted, the CM responded, “This just so happened to be a congregation and that they were targeted but this could have happened with anybody. What is the meaning of terror? Terror means an attempt to scare.”

“Don’t compare this case to the 1978 case of Nirankari, that was a religious issue but this is a clear case of terrorism. And we will deal with it,” he added.

When asked about HS Phoolka’s statement where he says the Army is behind the attack, the CM responded saying, “I think Phoolka is not stable if he believes that the Indian Army threw the grenade.”

Giving insights on the investigation and the aftermath of the attack he said, “This occurrence of this incident is being seriously probed. Full investigations are on-going and there are certain leads that the police are following up. And I am hopeful that we will soon catch these people. All those who faced injuries, mostly all of them are out of danger.  People who died in the incident, the government has already announced a compensation of 5 lakhs plus a job for the next of kin.”

“Everybody is aware of the incident. Security is installed everywhere. Today morning I even announced an award of 50 lakhs for information on suspects. The people injured are receiving free treatment but apart from that we are giving them a compensation of 50 thousand,” Captain added.
