Andhra DGP declines Naidu's allegations over 'police raj' in the state
Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police has rubbished former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister's claims that Police has become a pawn of the ruling party's hand.

Andhra Pradesh Director General of Police, Gautam Sawang on Saturday rejected the claims made by former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that 'police raj' is prevailing in the state.
The DGP also denied all the allegations by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), that Andhra Pradesh Police is ignoring the acts of the ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) Leaders and party workers. The top cop called the claims to be 'political rhetoric,' and ensured that law and order in the state are under control.
"The law and order in the state is absolutely under control. These allegations are just political rhetoric," Sawang told reporters at a press conference at the Andhra Pradesh Police headquarters in Mangalgiri in the Amaravati Capital Region.
The Telugu Desam Party has been alleging that the Andhra Pradesh police have become pawns in the hands of ruling YSRCP.
Former Andhra CM N. Chandrababu Naidu claimed that the police were acting on the command of the state government. Naidu also went on to claim that the DGP is not giving appointments to TDP leaders.
Responding to the claims made by former Andhra CM Naidu, Sawang said that he was not available only once. The Press conference by the DGP was held on the occasion of 'Police Commemoration Week'. The week was being observed from October 15 to October 21.
'Blood Donation camps were organised'- Andhra DGP
According to the DGP, 1,81,315 students attended the open house programmes. He also said that blood donation camps were organised. The camp was attended by 10,513 people, including police, who came forward and donated blood. Sawang also informed that the weekly-off system has benefitted 62,000 police families.
"A special app for police weekly offs will soon be introduced. Under the police insurance Scheme, Rs 40 lakh is being given to the police who have made the supreme sacrifice while on duty," he added.
"This is the biggest insurance scheme for the police force all over India. Home Guards' daily allowance has been increased from Rs 600 to Rs 710," the top cop said.
