Army Men bag gold, silver medals at World Bodybuilding Championship in South Korea
Multiple bodybuilders from the Indian Army won medals in the 11th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship held at Jeju Island in South Korea
Multiple bodybuilders from the Indian Army won medals in the 11th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship held in South Korea. The championship was held at Jeju Island in South Korea from November 5 to November 11.
Medals for bodybuilding
Havildar Rama Murthy of Army Ordnance Corps (Indian Army Node) represented India and won the Silver medal in 55kg Weight Category in 11th World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship. He is the first Indian Army bodybuilder (55 kg category) ever won the silver medal in any of World level Bodybuilding Championship. Havildar Th Dayanand Singh won Gold Medal in the 100kg weight category. Belonging to the Madras Engineer Group (MEG) of the Indian Army, also known as Madras Sappers, he won in the 100+ kg category while performing to the title track of Baahubali.
"Havildar Th Dayanand Singh won Gold Medal in 100kg weight category. Havaldar Anuj Kumar Taliyan of Madras Sappers won Gold Medal in 100+kg weight category," according to a press release by the Defence Wing on Wednesday.
Lieutenant Colonel Srinivasa Rao of the Indian Army represented India as Manager of Indian Bodybuilding team at South Korea. Under his able guidance, the Indian Army node bodybuilders won six Gold, 13 Silver and five Bronze medals. Srinivasa Rao has also achieved International Judge Licence and received it from the CEO of WBPF at South Korea. The Army Ordnance Corps (AOC) won two gold and one silver medal.
Apart from these, the release added that "Lieutenant Colonel Srinivasa Rao has also achieved International Judge License and received it from CEO of WBPF at South Korea."
