Bihar Floods: Government initiates fogging in flood-affected areas

Bihar government began the fogging process in waterlogged areas of the flood-hit Bihar. Fogging is being done to prevent the outbreak of vector-borne diseases

The Bihar government on Thursday began the fogging process in the water-logged areas of the flood-hit State. Fogging in Bihar is being done to prevent the risk of vector-borne diseases in the flood-affected regions.

"We are fogging Rajendra Nagar area and also spraying bleaching powder. We have also tried to operate the JCB machine in the Dinkar Golambar, Vaishali Chowk and here. We are also distributing bleach powder to each household so that the people can spray it inside their houses.  We have also cleared most of the animal carcasses from this area," District Magistrate, Patna Kumar Ravi said while speaking to media.

The District Magistrate further said that more machines have been brought in Bihar from the outside and are currently being set up in water-logged areas to fasten the relief work in the affected areas of the State.

After the extremely heavy rainfall that resulted in floods in the state, 73 people have died and, nine reported injured, according to the state officials. According to a news agency, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has rescued over 10,000 people from the Patna region of Bihar. The rescue teams have been rowing people across the flooded roads in inflated boats.

The State authorities and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have so far evacuated over 10,000 citizens from the flood-affected areas in Patna. According to reports, 19 NDRF teams have been sent out for evacuation. Out of the 19 teams, five NDRF teams have been sent to Patna's flood-affected areas. The IMD has issued a report stating that the rain and thunderstorms are likely to continue in Bihar this week. According to news agency ANI, an orange alert has been issued in Patna, Vaishali, Begusarai, and Khagaria districts for October 3 and 4.
