BJP hails 'riveting' Accidental Prime Minister trailer, Congress incandescent with rage
Already stirring controversy and fueling the political feud in the election season, the trailer of 'The Accidental Prime Minister' where Anupam Kher embodies former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, does not seem to have gone down well with the Congress party.Â
Floating controversy and fueling the political feud in the election season, the trailer of 'The Accidental Prime Minister' where Anupam Kher embodies former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, does not seem to have gone down well with the Congress party.
Congress leader Randeep Singh Surjewala has pinned a tweet denouncing the 'fake propaganda by BJP' against his party. He further said that this 'propaganda' will not hold back Congress from questioning the government on issues of rural distress, unemployment, demonetisation, GST, flawed Modi economics and corruption, concluding his displeasure by saying 'Chowkidaar Hi Chor Hai'
The ire of Surjewala was induced after BJP shared the trailer from its official social media handle, taking a dig at the Gandhi family by calling it the 'riveting tale of how a family held the country to ransom for 10 long years'.
The movie is known to be inspired by the memoir 'The Accidental Prime Minister' written by the former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's media advisor, Sanjaya Baru, from May 2004 to August 2008.
The Maharashtra State Youth Congress has also objected to the trailer.
In a letter addressed to Sunil Bohra and Dhaval Gada, the producers of the movie, Satyajeet Tambe Patil, the President of the Maharashtra State Youth Congress has written that ‘facts have been played with’ and ‘presented in an incorrect manner’ in the trailer to 'malign' Singh, Congress Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the party which was ‘unacceptable’ to the unit.
