BSF Jawan succumbs after being fired upon by Bangladesh Border Guards
In a shocking incident, one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan has been martyred, while another has been injured on Thursday in firing.

In a shocking incident, one Border Security Force (BSF) jawan has been martyred, while another has been injured on Thursday in firing. The firing has been done by the BGB troops of Bangladesh along the international border of the two countries in West Bengal's Murshidabad, the officials informed. The incident took place after three Indian fishermen went fishing in river Padma in the border area (Indo-Bangla border). While two fishermen returned and approached BSF post-Kakmarichar. They informed that Border Guard Bangladesh apprehended the three and later released two of them.

As per news agency ANI, Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) troops opened fire on Border Security Force (BSF), who was trying to trace the Indian fisherman. Head Constable Vijay Bhan Singh received bullet injuries on his head & the Constable/crew received bullet injuries on his right hand. Details by sources say that around 1030 hrs Post Commander along with 5 troopers in the BSF boat, approached BGB patrol in the water channel of River Padma near Boundary Pillar 75/7-S. During Flag meeting BGB patrol did not release Indian fisherman and also tried to cordon(Gherao) BSF troops. Sensing the situation worsening, BSF party immediately returned. BGB troops, then opened fire on the returning BSF party.
Head Constable Vijay Bhan Singh received bullet injuries on his head and the Constable/crew( boatman) received bullet injuries on his right hand. Both injured BSF personnel were evacuated to nearest medical facility. Head Constable Vijay Bhan Singh succumbed to injuries, he was declared brought dead. Injured Constable has been taken to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital Behrampore. BGB authorities have been contacted. Senior officials are on the spot.
