BSP Chief Mayawati condemns murder of President of Bar Council, Darvesh Yadav, says it is indicative of growing 'Jungleraj' of the BJP

In a shocking incident, newly-elected Uttar Pradesh Bar Council president, Darvesh Yadav, was shot dead on Wednesday afternoon inside the premises of the Agra Civil court. As per preliminary inputs, she was shot three times by a close aide of hers. 

Expressing grief over the unfortunate incident and offering condolences, the Bahujan Samaj Party Chief, Mayawati said,

"The ruthless murder of the President of the Bar Council inside the premises of the Agra Civil Court and the unwarranted beating received by the journalist in Shamli is an extremely unfortunate and condenmable incident and goes to show that after the elections, the anarchy and 'jungle raj' of the BJP government has only strengthened with time," she tweeted.  

As per reports, she was elected president of the Bar Council on June 9 at Prayagraj, following which she was attending a welcome ceremony at the Agra court on Wednesday where she was shot inside the court premises.

The Bar Council also condemned in a tweet the brutal murder of its first woman president.

The police confirmed that the attacker was a close aide of Darvesh Yadav and he shot her with his licensed pistol three times. The police officials also stated that the attacker shot at himself after shooting her in the public place. He was later moved to the hospital. 

"She was shot by her aide Manish Sharma who has been working with her since a long time both professionally and politically. She was attending the welcome ceremony at the court. At that time, her aide Manish shot her. The incident took place inside the lawyer's chamber," said Additional SP of Agra Prashant Verma speaking in the matter. 

Darvesh Yadav later succumbed to injuries at the hospital where she was taken to after being attacked. Meanwhile, Manish Sharma is undergoing treatment at the hospital after he shot himself. The investigation by the UP Police is still underway and further details are awaited.
