Change in Governor for 7 states, including Bihar governor Satya Pal Malik's transfer to J-K and Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy's transfer to Meghalaya

In a big development, the Governors of seven states have been changed, including Bihar governor Satya Pal Malik's transfer to Jammu-Kashmir, and Tripura Governor Tathagata Roy's transfer to Meghalaya. The President's office on Tuesday issued a release informing about the changes and appointments in these seven states.

HERE IS THE COMPLETE LIST OF GOVERNORS' APPOINTMENT/CHANGES IN THE 7 STATES

• Lal Ji Tandon as the Governor of Bihar.
• Satyadev Narayan Arya as the Governor of Haryana.
• Baby Rani Maurya as the Governor of Uttarakhand.
• Satya Pal Malik, Governor of Bihar is transferred and appointed as Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
• Ganga Prasad, Governor of Meghalaya is transferred and appointed as Governor of Sikkim.
• Tathagata Roy, Governor of Tripura is transferred and appointed as Governor of Meghalaya.
• Kaptan Singh Solanki, Governor of Haryana is transferred and appointed as Governor of Tripura.

As informed about the President's office, the above appointments will take effect from the dates the incumbents assume charge of their respective offices.

LAL JI TANDON

Lal ji Tandon is a BJP veteran, who is also known as the protege of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Tandon has been a member of Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council for two terms, wherein he was elected from Lucknow after he defeated Congress' Rita Bahuguna Joshi. Prior. The seat was, earlier, held by former Prime Minister late Atal Bihari Vajpayee for four consecutive terms.

SATYADEV NARAYAN ARYA

Satyadev Narayan Arya, who has been appointed as the Governor of Haryana, had in past served as a minister in Bihar Mines and Geology department.

BABY RANI MAURYA

Baby Rani Maurya who has been appointed as the Governor of Uttarakhand is an Indian politician from the BJP. In the year 2017, she grabbed headlines after she along with 11 other candidates withdrew her nominations from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly polls. Speaking about her decision, Maurya had then said that she took the step for her party as she wanted it to win. Her decision came a day after the name of 33 candidates were cancelled from the nomination papers owing to several reasons.

SATYA PAL MALIK

Satya Pal Malik, the previous Governor of Bihar has been the member of the 9th Lok Sabha, wherein he represented Aligarh constituency. Along with serving as the Governor of Bihar, he had additionally been given the charge to serve as the Governor of Odisha till May 28, 2018. He was given the additional duty on March 21, 2018.

GANGA PRASAD

The former Governor of Meghalaya had been a member of the Bihar Legislative Council for 18 years, wherein he was elected in 1994.

TATHAGATA ROY

The former Tripura Governor was also a former professor of Construction Engineering at Jadavpur University. Roy is also a published author. Before assuming the charge as Tripura Governor, Roy had in past also served as the president of BJP state unit in West Bengal.

KAPTAN SINGH SOLANKI

Solanki has been serving as the former Governor of Haryana before being appointed as the Governor of Tripura. He was also a member of Rajya Sabha till 2014, wherein he was inducted in 2009, representing Madhya Pradesh.
