Cyclone Kyarr: New Mangalore Port rescues more than 1000 people
Owing to the precarious weather conditions created by the cyclone Kyarr, the New Mangalore Port rescued more than a thousand people and provided them shelter.

Owing to the precarious weather conditions created by the cyclone Kyarr, the New Mangalore Port rescued more than a thousand people and given shelter within the safe zone of the harbour. Moreover, more than 100 fishing boats were also safely brought back. Earlier on Friday, cyclone Kyarr intensified into a severe cyclonic storm over the east-central Arabian Sea. High tide is predicted in this region during the next 12 hours, which would intensify from October 28 to 31.

Cyclone Kyarr likely to move towards Oman coast
According to the latest update on Saturday, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) classified cyclone Kyarr as a "Very Severe Cyclonic Storm". At the same time, it observed that the cyclone was likely to move west-northwestward towards the coast of Oman in the upcoming 5 days. Furthermore, the IMD warned that the intensity of the cyclone could increase in the next 24 hours.

Adverse weather conditions
Very strong winds are likely to prevail around the coastal districts of north Maharashtra and the northeast Arabian Sea off the Gujarat coast in the next few hours. Moreover, the IMD has predicted rain in the coastal districts of Karnataka, Goa, north and the south Konkan region. Due to the rough conditions, fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea off the coasts of Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka and south Gujarat coast. The Goa government has issued a red alert and have kept disaster management teams on standby.
