A Delhi court on Monday, October 14, has reserved the order on summoning BJP leader Gautam Gambhir for October 22. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Samar Vishal reserved the order against the BJP leader who was accused by Aam Admi Party’s (AAP) leader Atishi Marlena alleging that he had enrolled as a voter in two constituent Assemblies in Delhi ahead of the general election held this year.

‘Sufficient ground to summon Gambhir’

Marlena who accused Gambhir of possessing two voter-ID cards has said there was sufficient ground to summon Gambhir. The AAP leader had claimed that Gambhir is a registered voter in both Karol Bagh and Rajinder Nagar areas in Delhi. The court had earlier asked Atishi to prove her 'locus standi' for filing the petition against her rival on the issue.

The plea, filed by advocate Mohammad Irshad, alleged that Gambhir had deliberately and illegally enrolled as a voter from two constituencies. Marlena had also called for a 72-hour ban on Gambhir from campaigning in the Lok Sabha polls for allegedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) several times.

'I have only one voter-ID'

Gambhir had refuted all the allegations of him possessing two voter-ID cards. "I have only one voter-ID that is from Rajendra Nagar. I do not have any other voter-ID," Gambhir opined during a roadshow in south Delhi's Jangpura area ahead of the general election. Gambhir had won the seat against Marlena of AAP and Arvind Singh Lovely of the Congress in East Delhi constituency. Downplaying the allegations, Gambhir had earlier said the AAP had no vision and did not do anything for the people in their four and a half years of governance hence they stooped to such low levels of allegations.
