Delhi: Nepalese man who fled after raping a minor; arrested by police
Vijay, Nepalese man allegedly accused of raping & attempting to kill a six-year-old minor was held in Delhi. He had fled to Nepal & was untraceable since 2015.

A Nepalese man accused of raping and attempting to kill a six-year-old minor was caught in Delhi on Saturday. Vijay, the 49-year-old accused is a resident of Bharatpur at Chaitwan in Nepal and reportedly used to work in a garment export house in Okhla. According to the police, he used to provide financial help to the survivor's family. He had since then fled to Nepal in 2015.
Man on run for allegedly raping a minor girl; caught
The police reportedly said that the girl's father had abused him, after which the accused had planned to teach him a lesson by raping and killing her on August 10, 2015. The girl's mother had allegedly stated that she had gone to pick her up from school around 4 pm and her daughter wasn't found when she arrived at school. The mother was told that someone claiming to be the child's grandfather had picked her up at 1 pm. Later the same day, the child was found lying in a pool of blood near Sanjay Colony, she was immediately rushed to the hospital.
The police registered a case at the Okhla police Station and several teams formed to trace the accused. Police later reportedly learned that the accused had fled to Nepal. Subsequently, a charge sheet was filed against him on June 6, 2018, declaring him as a proclaimed offender.
Officers reportedly said, he was located in Nepal and a police informer was sent there who gained his trust and convinced him that the rape case against him had been closed. The informer also arranged a job for the accused convincing there was a shortage of tailors in Delhi. As he arrived on Saturday, the accused was arrested from Delhi Gate area, the officer added. While he was absconding, Vijay had reportedly worked as a tailor in Kathmandu, Bhutwal and other places in Nepal.
Sexual assault cases on a rise in India
According to news reports, as of January 1, 2019, and June 30, 2019, around 24,212 cases of child abuse have been registered in India. In the year 2015 and 2016, crime against children in India increased by a sharp 11% as freshly released NCRB data suggests, according to Child Rights and You (CRY) report. The total number of crimes against children reported in 2016 is 1,06,958, while 94,172 crimes were recorded in 2015.
