Gearing up for implementing an odd-even scheme early next month, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday announced that persons with disabilities will be exempted from the scheme. Replying to a tweet by Major DP Singh, a Kargil War veteran, Kejriwal said that the people with disabilities will be exempted from the scheme.
Yes @MajDPSingh, persons with disabilities will definitely be exempt during Odd Even https://t.co/w1G6X7M9HN

Major DP Singh described his own problem as he is an amputee and he cannot sit in the metro with an artificial leg due to ill-designed seats. After Kejriwal's positive response, the former army man quoted the chief minister's tweet and wrote, "Thank you, @ArvindKejriwal sir. I appreciate your kind response and support. Jai Hind."
The odd-even vehicle rationing scheme
The odd-even vehicle rationing scheme will be implemented in the national capital after Diwali, from November 4 to 15. Delhi government has already announced an exemption to women under the scheme. The private CNG vehicles will be banned during the scheme period.
As per reports, Kejriwal said that unlike previous occasions, privately owned CNG vehicles will this time not be exempted. The decision has been taken keeping in mind their safety, Kejriwal added.
“Women driving alone, cars having all women as occupants and women accompanied by children aged less than 12 years will be exempted,” he said.
A flagship scheme of the Aam Aadmi Party government, aimed at tackling pollution, it was first implemented in 2015. The scheme entails cars with odd and even number plates to run on alternate days. For the last few years, the national capital has been grappling with smog every winter, raising health concerns.
It was also reported that the Delhi government is likely to exempt two-wheelers from the ambit of the vehicle rationing method in line with the suggestion of the Transport department.
