Dia Mirza congratulates Abhijit Banerjee for Nobel Economics Prize win
Bollywood actress Dia Mirza extended congratulatory greetings to Indian-origin economist Abhijit Banerjee & team for winning the Nobel Prize in Economics.
Indian born economist Abhijit Banerjee won the Nobel Prize in Economics on October 14 along with Esther Duflo and Michael Kremer for their experimental approach to alleviating global poverty. To celebrate the occasion, Dia Mirza took to social media and extended congratulatory greetings to the Nobel laureates. In a Twitter post, she wrote, "Congratulations to renowned economist #AbhijitBanerjee for winning the Nobel Prize2019 for economics jointly with his wife Esther Duflo and another economist Michael Kremer on their approach for alleviation of global poverty." She further said that Indian is proud of his achievements.

About Abhijit Banerjee
Indian-American economist Abhijit Banerjee who is the Ford Foundation International Professor of Economics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), pursued his education at the University of Calcutta, Jawarharlal Nehru University, and got his Ph.D. in 1988 from Harvard University. A total of 81 Nobel Laureates have been awarded the prize in economic sciences as of now.

The Nobel Prize's official Twitter handle while giving further details on Abhijit Banerjee's feat said that over 700 million people, even today, survive on very low income and every year, five million children die before their fifth birthday due to the inability to afford even cheap and simple treatments. The Nobel Prize also credited Abhijit Banerjee, Duflo and Kremer for introducing a new approach to obtain reliable answers about the best way to combat global poverty.

Bollywood actress Dia Mirza who is taking a break from her acting career is very vocal about several social causes. She serves as the Goodwill Ambassador UN Environment and the UN Secretary Generals Advocate for SDGs. She is also advocating several initiatives like the WildLife Trust Of India, Save The Children, Swachh Bharat Mission. Dia Mirza made her last on-screen appearance in 2018 venture 'Sanju'.
