An auto-rickshaw driver in Delhi is winning hearts across the city and on social media for his services to the society by driving his 'auto ambulance'.
In Delhi, 76-year-old Harzinder Singh, cruises around the city in his auto-rickshaw, which is usually used by people to commute. However, in a surprising move, Singh has converted his auto into an ambulance, much like a highway ambulance which is meant to tend to people hurt because of road accidents.
Here's a tweet of Singh and his auto-ambulance:
Singh has converted his auto into a small ambulance which has every basic amenity and aid that is required during an emergency. His auto is just like any other auto that run in the capital, but it stands out as Singh provides help free of cost to accident victims. In addition, he has also posted his contact details on the backside of his auto-rickshaw so that people can reach out to him anytime someone faces an accident.
On an average Singh comes across at least one accident victim per day. As soon as he rushes to the spot, he tends to the wounds immediately and if there is anything serious at all then he wastes no time and rushes them to the nearest hospital:
“If I come across any accident victim, I rush him to hospital so that his life is saved. On an average, I help 1 victim/day” Singh says.
In his auto, Singh has also kept a container of drinking water meant for the accident victims. When his picture and his good deeds surfaced on the internet, people started appreciating his dedication towards society. Likewise, Twitteratti too started lauding Singh for his efforts. Here are some of their tweets:
While sometimes there is lack of immediate response after accidents, people like Harzinder Singh are present to save the day.
