Even as Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Jannayak Janta Party chief Dushyant Chautala is scheduled to stake their claim for forming the next Haryana government on Saturday, it remains unclear as to who will be the Deputy Chief Minister from the JJP. As per news agency PTI, Dushyant Chautala's mother Naina Chautala will be given the post of Deputy CM. On Friday evening, BJP president Amit Shah announced that BJP and JJP alliance will form the government in Haryana. While the chief minister will be from BJP, the deputy CM will be from JJP, Shah said.

Who is Naina Chautala?

Naina Chautala is the mother of Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala and wife of Ajay Chautala, who is lodged in the jail after conviction in a teacher recruitment scam along with his father and former chief minister Om Prakash Chautala. She was elected from the Badhra assembly segment and had defeated Congress candidate Ranbir Singh Mahendra with a margin of 13,704 votes in the just concluded elections. However, the final decision was yet to be taken, the sources said.

BJP-JJP alliance

As the poll result of Haryana gave a fractured mandate on Thursday, BJP President Amit Shah on Friday announced that BJP and JJP have sealed an alliance to form the next Haryana government. Addressing a press briefing at his residence, along with BJP working president JP Nadda and BJP Haryana in-charge Anil Jain, BJP Haryana Chief Subhash Barala, Union Minister Anurag Thakur, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, and JJP's Dushyant Chautala, Shah said that JJP will get the Deputy CM post but did not mention Chautala's name.

"Thanking the people of Haryana for its mandate, I inform you that BJP and JJP will form the next government in the state. JJP and many independents have supported us. In the next government, the Chief Minister will be of BJP and Deputy CM will be from JJP," Amit Shah said.

JPP: the kingmaker

Just 10 months old Jannanayak Janta Party, that was formed under the aegis of Dushyant Chautala after family feud in INLD, became the third political force in Haryana's fractured mandate winning 10 seats. As the result came in on Thursday, both the BJP and Congress reportedly tried to rope in the new Chautala of Haryana in order to form the next government. There were also reports of Dushyant Chautala demanding Chief Ministerial berth. However, dismissing all speculations, the JJP leader said that it can ally with any party who will adhere to the demands of JJP.
