Dussehra: Venkaiah Naidu calls for eliminating social evils in society
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu called for eliminating all the social evils in the society during the Dussehra celebrations at the Ram Leela Grounds on Tuesday
Vice President Venkaiah Naidu called for eliminating all the social evils in the society during the Dussehra celebrations at the Ram Leela Grounds in New Delhi. Naidu, while addressing the crowd, urged everyone for eliminating all the social evils like casteism, fundamentalism, corruption, and discrimination that impede the progress of the society and the nation. Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had also attended the event with the Vice President. During the event, both the leaders applied 'tilak' on the participants' forehead who were enacting the role of Ram, Sita, and Lakshman on the stage.
'India should aim for Ram Rajya'
Speaking at the celebrations, Naidu stated that Mahatma Gandhi, the father of the Nation dreamt that India should aim for a 'Ram Rajya'. Praising the virtues of Lord Ram's kingdom, he stated that 'Ram Rajya' will lead to a society that will be based on virtue, morality, and justice. "To Gandhi, Ram Rajya meant a nation that ensured equal rights to "both prince and pauper". The epic of Ramayana reminds us of our duty towards the world, society, and family. The Ramayana defines the relationship of human beings with each other, and with mother earth, nature, birds, and animals. This message gains new relevance in the current global context of formidable challenges to world peace and prosperity," he said.
