Elderly couple run over by van in Uttar Pradesh

An elderly couple who were out on a morning walk died after they were run over by a van in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj district on Sunday morning, police said.

The accident occurred on the Tirwa-Bela road around 5 am, Tirwa police station incharge Indrajeet Saroj said.

A van hit Baijnath (63) and his wife Javitri (60) from behind near Sukhrani Inter College and ran over them. Both died on the spot, police said.

The bodies of the deceased, residents of Lohia Nagar, have been sent for post-mortem, police said.
