Fly invasion in Pakistan's Karachi while Imran Khan attacks India

A man in Pakistan has moved the Sindh High Court over Karachi's fly infestation, in order to urge the Pakistan authorities to take steps over this issue. A swarm of flies has invaded Karachi following the recent monsoon in Pakistan, after the city was inudating with piles of garbage and undisposed animal waste all over. 

The petition filed against the fly infestation accentuated how the Pakistan authorities are not doing enough to curtail the filth in the city. The petition further highlighted the rising instances of dengue and Condo virus due to the incompetence and indifference over garbage disposal and the subsequent fly infestation in Karachi. Meanwhile, the Pakistan's Sindh government has called for special prayers to get rid of the menance of flies in the Assembly, instead of taking garbage disposal measures. 

The Pakistan government initiated 'Let's Clean Karachi' campaign over two weeks ago, however, the initiative failed to operate steadily in Pakistan's financial hub. At a time when Pakistan is facing such rudimentary issues in their major cities, and tackling a tattered economy, Pakistan PM Imran Khan's government is attempting to distracting the attention of the local people by raising international issues and creating a hue and cry over Kashmir.

Here are the issues that Pakistan really needs to look into: 

Blacklisted by FATF

Pertaining to Pakistan's indulgence with terror outfits on their soil, the Asia-Pacific Group of the global financial watchdog Financial Action Task Force (FATF) thrusted Pakistan in the "enhanced blacklist" on August 23 for their inaction against terror funding. 

This development came a day after Pakistan submitted its compliance report on its 27-point action plan to the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in hope to for a possible exit from the grey list. However, APG (Asia/Pacific Group on Money Laundering) placed Pakistan in the Enhanced Expedited Follow Up List (Black List) for failure to meet its standards, after FATF found Pakistan non-compliant on 32 of 40 compliance parameters on money laundering and terror financing.

"The APG has placed Pakistan in the Enhanced Expedited Follow Up List (Black List) for failure to meet its standards," an Indian official said in the development.

If Pakistan remains in the greylist or blacklist, the country would face a financial downgrade and restrictions on its markets. It will also have a tough time managing capital inflows from IMF (International Monetary Fund) and other agencies, as well as servicing its debt that adds up to about 25% of the government’s revenues at present.

PM Imran Khan rolled back prices of naan and roti

The cash-strapped government of Prime Minister Imran Khan decided to roll back the prices of naan and roti across Pakistan on July 31, amid the public discontent against rising prices of essential commodities. 

As Pakistan has initiated steps to implement tough economic reforms, the prices of petrol, gas and other essential food items have increased, hitting the common man.

Currently, naan is selling at Rs 12 to Rs 15 in different cities of Pakistan. However, before an increase in the gas tariff and rates of wheat flour, naan price ranged between Rs 8 and Rs 10. Similarly, roti is available at Rs 10 to Rs 12 while its previous rate was Rs 7 to Rs 8, the Dawn report said.

Cheaper stay during US visit

Pakistan PM Imran Khan during his visit to Washington in July decided to stay at the Pakistani envoy's official residence instead of an expensive hotel to reduce the cost of the trip.

Save PoK, forget Kashmir

Pakistan Opposition leader Bilawal Bhutto called for a movement to save Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).  In a video that has surfaced on Tuesday, Chairman of Pakistan Peoples Party(PPP) and Opposition leader Bilawal Bhutto has launched a 'Save PoK' campaign in to save Muzzafarabad, the capital of the PoK. In the video, Bilawal Bhutto, can be seen addressing a gathering and attacking Pakistan PM Imran Khan. He can be seen calling for steps to save Muzaffarabad. 

"Earlier what used to be our policy on Kashmir? Earlier, Pakistan's policy was how will we take Srinagar. Now, after Khan has come to power, because of his failure, what is Pakistan’s position? How will we now save Muzaffarabad?" Bilawal Bhutto said in the video.
