Girish Chandra Murmu appointed first Lieutenant Governor of J&K

As Satya Pal Malik will take charge of the Governor position of Goa, Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Served as the principal secretary to the then CM of Gujarat Narendra Modi, Girish Chandra Murmu was an Indian Administrative Services Officer of the Gujarat cadre. During his service in Gujarat, he held key administrative operations in the state and currently, he is the Secretary in the department of expenditure at the Ministry of Finance. To take charge on October 31 The speculations of Satya Pal Malik becoming the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir were floating till the time it was revealed that Girish Chandra Murmu will take the charge. The State of Jammu and Kashmir will be transitioning into two Union Territories by October 31 and that is when Girish Chandra Murmu will take to the office.
